Are we aware of the new redesigned PS 5?

alsoPlayStation 5 (PS5) is the best console developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment for home video games. It was announced as the successor to the PlayStation 4 in 2019. The PS5 was released in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, North America, Singapore, and South Korea on November 12, 2020. Subsequently, a week later, worldwide releases followed. The PlayStation 5 is part of the ninth generation of video game consoles, along with Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, launched the same month. 

Features

The platform has been released in two variants. One is a base model with an optical disc drive compatible with Ultra HD Blu-ray. Other one is a Digital Version without this drive. It acts as a lower-cost model for those who choose to download digital to purchase games.

The main hardware features of the PlayStation 5 include a solid-state drive customized for high-speed data streaming. It also enables significant storage performance improvements. It offers

  • AMD GPU capable of displaying 4K resolution at up to 120 frames per second,
  • Hardware-accelerated ray tracing for realistic lighting and reflections,
  • Tempest Engine that enables 3D audio effects accelerated by hardware,
  • The DualSense controller with haptic feedback and backward compatibility, and
  • PlayStation VR games are additional features.

 

How’s the redesigned PS5 described? 

The redesigned user interface of the PlayStation 5 is described as “accessible and informative” by Sony. Most importantly, it offers real-time alerts of friends’ activities, multiplayer activities available, and missions and rewards for single players. Cerny said, “we don’t want the player to have to boot the game, see what’s up, boot the game, see what’s up, so all these choices are visible in the UI.” The redesigned user interface was described by Matt MacLaurin, the current vice president of UX design at PlayStation, as a “very interesting evolution of the OS”. He said, “a 100 percent overhaul of the PS4 UI and some very different new concepts”. Moreover, MacLaurin also claimed that with a new and robust visual language, the UI is extremely fast.

What does PS 5 support? 

PlayStation 5 supports Twitch, YouTube TV, Netflix, TuneIn, Disney+ and Spotify. It also backs iHeartRadio, Plex, Apple TV+, Crunchyroll, YouTube, Crackle, Amazon Prime Video, WWE Network etc. Other than that,  DAZN, MyCanal, BBC iPlayer, Foxtel Now, Showmax, Crave, CBS All Access, Pluto TV, Tubi, Peacock, Hulu, and HBO Max are are also supported by PS5 . In contrast, support has been pledged for the future of other streaming platforms.

Above all, the device includes PlayStation Now support. It is a subscription-based cloud gaming service from Sony to play games from older PlayStation console generations. Accessible on PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, iOS, and Android devices, Sony’s Remote Play application was modified just before the launch of PlayStation 5. It certainly allows users to play their PlayStation 5 games remotely over a local network on these other devices.
