Spain will be allowing tourists this summer. People from UK and Japan can visit Spain starting May 24. The country is also allowing people without any Covid negative test. This move is to encourage tourists in the poverty-stricken country. Coronavirus has battered the tourist industry. It has announced that tourists from these countries are free to visit them anytime.
Despite all that, they still need to fill out the health form regarding any comorbidities. The UK, on the other hand, condemns visiting any country without any emergencies. Prime Minister of UK Boris Johnson is evident on his stand.
“We’ve been clear people shouldn’t be travelling to amber list [nations] for the purpose of holidays. Our advice hasn’t changed. We will keep the green list under review… and will add countries where possible.”
UK green list is curated to encourage people to travel to that destination free of Covid infections. And Portugal tops this list, and here tourists can travel without any restrictions. The country has decided on a traffic light system where red and amber countries are strictly no to traveling.
And is still deciding to form a white list allowing tourists from other nations to travel into Uk. Tourism in both Spain and Portugal heavily depends on British countries. If tourists are restricted from British territories, then countries like Spain will face more losses than usual.
Speaking on drafting restrictions, prime minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, said that “Spain will be delighted, very delighted to welcome all British tourists, and tourists from some other countries with low Covid infection rates.”
Spain falls in the amber list under UK restrictions. It means that tourists from Spain have to take the RT-PCR test to prove negative results. Along with that, they have to fill an application form of location, quarantine for ten days, and lastly, take two more tests.
Spain has allowed all kinds of traveling, be it essential or nonessential, without any restrictions due to the lower rate of infections in the country. Other than that, Spain has also planned to allow people from different countries that are vaccinated from June 7. It will also include citizens from the United States.
