Finally, some good news for all the DBZ fans out there. Dragon Ball Z has certainly veered away from the early period of the show. It’s going back to the early days when Gohan was just a baby and Goku was struggling to understand his lineage as part of the alien race of Saiyans.
Recently, one of the animators of the show, Yuya Takahashi, posted a new sketch on Twitter. It shows a young Goku and his toddler Gohan, who is hanging at the end of a stick. The illustration signifies the time when the Son family had not yet learned of their connection to the Saiyans race and the expansion of their world beyond the planet of Earth.
So, based on these sketches, we’re now aware of what new upcoming seasons of Dragon Ball Z Super are going to be about.
Takahashi helped animate several episodes of Dragon Ball Z Super as well as films of the Shonen series. Some of them are namely Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F.
Dragon Ball Super: What Is it About?
While the original show, Dragon Ball Z, dealt with extraterrestrial threats that were mainly artificially created or demonic. The prominent ones have been Freeza, Cell, and Majin Buu. The newer version, like Dragon Ball Super, followed the storylines of gods and the existence of alternate realities.
Throughout its run from 2015 to 2018, Dragon Ball Super has provided bigger challenges for our heroes, each being more difficult than the last. Ultimately all the events lead to Dragon Ball Super: Broly film, where the story concludes.
Much of the series still ties in with the other branched-off anime and manga shows, filling in the plot and enriching the story itself. The timeline of all these previous shows goes before the events of the Dragon Ball Super: Broly film.
Is the Show Going to Make a Comeback?
After the ending of the Tournament of Power Arc, which concluded the story of Dragon Ball Super, the company, Toei Animation, made no announcements. The company maintains radio silence on the show ever making an anime comeback. But there’s no need to fret; companies often do that in order to raise hype when they do announce it.
However, the franchise is going to receive a new film in 2022 titled Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. The creator of the show, Akira Toriyama, did not address the series’ return. Rather teased the comeback, saying he’s excited about how the new anime will continue the story of Dragon Ball Super. The hints were subtle but are certainly there. So, now all the DBZ fans can rest assured that soon they are going to get something new to cherish!
Dragon Ball Super What Will the New Series Be About?
Apart from the Broly film, the various shows have not delved deep into the past of Saiyans or their existence and how they came to be on Earth. The most recent arc featuring the intergalactic bounty hunter Granolah touched some of the Saiyans history. While Goku and Vegeta deal with the sins of their forefathers, they must also find a way to defeat Granolah, who proves to be a formidable foe.
Perhaps Takahashi released the sketch as a teaser of what to expect next or what storyline is currently in development. If so, it would be a fresh take for the show since it’s never been done before!
So, sit tight, DBZ fam. Just a few more months, and we’ll be overflowing with Dragon Ball Super content again. Till then, Sayonara!
