We have got some amazing news for all the horror & thriller fans. Everyone’s favorite psycho thriller, You, is coming back with a season 3. Recently, a teaser trailer for You season 3 was released!
However, given its popularity, it’s certainly not a surprise that the popular American thriller is coming back. Based on a novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes, You follows the story of Joe Goldberg, who is a bookstore manager in New York and is a serial killer. In the first season, we saw that he falls in love with a customer, Guinevere, which results in him having a toxic, delusional obsession with her. The second season follows a similar story, where Joe moves to Los Angeles and falls in love again. This time with a local heiress named Love Quinn.
Although the series originally premiered on Lifetime, its critical success began when it began to stream on Netflix.
With that being said, now let’s move on to the juicy part and get some insights on the upcoming season!
Season 3 of “You” When Is it Coming Out?
Recently, Netflix released a teaser trailer for the upcoming season. According to the teaser trailer, the show will premiere on Netflix on 15th October 2021. The show was originally supposed to hit Netflix earlier this year, but delays occurred due to the COVID pandemic. But fret not, since the release date is official, so there won’t be any more delays, hopefully!
You Season 3 Plot
After less than a month following the grand finale of season 2, Netflix gave an official green light to season 3 of You. During the last of season 2, we saw Joe at a crossroad; love is pregnant, and a psychopath killer who promptly kills Joe’s ex and neighbor in order to make him stay. Though he’s turned good (sort of), he must choose whether to settle down or move away and continue his obsession (with, you know, killing).
The executive producer of the show, Sera Gamble, sat down with EW when the second season was streaming. She confessed that she had big plans for the next season and storylines revolving around Love’s mother and the relationship she has with her children. She teased at the time how the finale would be planting the seeds for that story.
Although the story changes radically from the book in the second season, the newly released book in the You series, You Love Me, may shine some light on what to expect in the upcoming season.
The synopsis shows that Joe has moved yet again, this time to a secluded island. There he meets a woman, Mary Kay DiMarco but he resists obsessing with her. This time he wants to win her the old fashion way, complete with flowers and dates. Perhaps the show will incorporate some of this storyline.
You Season 3: Are There New Additions To The Cast?
Joe Badgley is, of course, returning as well as Victoria Pedritti who plays Love Quinn. Moreover, a number of newcomers are joining the cast, and they are:
- Scott Michael Foster
- Dylan Arnold
- Tati Gabrielle
- Travis Van Winkle
- Shalita Grant.
- Scott Speedman
The trailer was a surprise but definitely a welcome one. We finally have a name for our murderer’s baby! A baby boy named Henry. In the one-minute-long trailer, it looks like Joe is narrating to his kid who he’s going to be when he grows up to be. If you haven’t seen it yet.
The teaser has a creepy edge to it, but that’s why we love the show, right! But what’s actually going to happen in season three is still a secret.
So, hold your horses’ fam and sit tight because October is going to be one hell of a spooky month. With the show hitting Netflix and Halloween’s just around the corner!
