Outlander Season 6 is actually going to happen. So, what lies ahead for the Frasers? We’ve all been suffering out here in the outlander. (A clever title for when the sow is between seasons, used by fans and production alike.) COVID has prolonged the show more than usual.
But now’s the time to celebrate! Season 6’s first teaser just dropped. On the heels of the trailer are the opening titles of the new season! Set to the show’s iconic theme song, “Skye Boat”, the images hype up Claire and Jamie Fraser’s return to Fraser Ridge.
Inspired by Gabaldon’s book, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, the show follows its plot loosely. Fraser’s Ridge is the Fraser family’s new home and they must defend it in season 6. The Fraser family argues for peace while defending their home. However, fighting for peace is hard enough, especially in a time of revolution, as Claire knows.
Outlander Season 6: When Will the Show Premiere?
Folks, the Outlander is almost over! As of November 22, we now know when season six will premiere – the first episode will air on March 6, 2022.
Diana Gabaldon revealed the news at the launch of the ninth book in the series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.
The author has always said there would be 10 books about the Fraser family – meaning 10 potential seasons of Outlander – but at the event, Gabaldon said: “I guess it depends on Jamie and Claire. If they’re not ready to die yet, I guess I will carry on.”
Will the stars return for at least three more seasons? We already know that they’ll be back for Season 7.
Despite the shooting conditions for season six being challenging (via CheatSheet), we’re sure fans would love it.
I think shooting through a Scottish winter during a pandemic was interesting. We went to work, especially at the beginning, with no idea what was going to happen. I just finished a movie in London with similar protocols. To be in Scotland and to see no one driving to work – and to feel as if we were the only people in the office – was quite surreal.”
However, the pain was worth it, as the unusual circumstances led to a series to be proud of.
“I am really happy with this season,” he said. “It almost feels like an early western vibe. We’re building to the War of Independence. And, of course, there’s time travel as well as all the other elements. It feels like a small but mighty season.”
After filming, Heughan had difficulty switching off.
In an interview with The Express, Heughan said, “It’s kind of a transition moment.”.
In the days and weeks after shooting a season of Outlander, it’s hard to switch off. You’re still trying to get things done and get things done.”
Outlander Season 6: The Teaser Trailer
The trailer starts out with the happy Fraser couple moving in to their new home and beginning their new lives. But trouble seems to find them everywhere they go. This time it take the shape of a bloody revolution. Things are beginning to escalate. Will the Frasers survive the storm?
Outlander Season 6:How long is the Sixth Season?
In honor of World Outlander Day, Starz announced in June 2021 that the so-called “outlander” will end in early 2022.
As a result of the pandemic, Season 6 will only be eight episodes long (a typical Outlander season is 12 to 13 episodes).
That’s the bad news – the good news is that the first episode will be movie-length, running approximately 90 minutes. The seventh season, which will begin filming in the new year, will have 16 episodes.
Outlander Season 6: The Plot
The sixth season of Outlander will be based loosely on Diana Gabaldon’s sixth book, A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
President and CEO of Starz, Chris Albrecht, assured fans that Claire and Jamie will face new challenges. It also appears that new adversaries will emerge.
The showrunner, Matthew B. Roberts said in a statement that he and the rest of production were excited to be in the editing room again. He went on to say that 2021 presented a lot of challenges, which ended up with them truncating the season. But don’t feel too disheartened for season seven (already confirmed) will have a total of 16 episodes!
Since it isn’t Outlander without good old emotional turmoil, the news of the couple facing dreary challenges is hardly surprising. Executive producer Maril Davis shared a rather ominous snippet with Entertainment Weekly. He teased that the Frasers finally think their safe, but what happens if their own home is turning against them? What to do when it happens in their own backyard?
The new threat ties to the arrival of the Christie family, who happen to be Jamie’s old nemesis, Tom Christie. The family’s presence is going to have a destabilizing effect on the Frasers, especially Claire. The interactions between the two rivaling families are heartbreaking yet have a twisted narrative added in the mix.
Sam Heughan also added to fans worries, when he teased the couple’s efforts to building a peaceful life for themselves. The actor made it seem like they will see it all crumble, with the cracks staring to reveal themselves. The revolution, the war is coming. Will the Frasers flee? Or will they stand and fight? We only have to wait till the premiere.
