While working at a well-known megachurch “Lakewood Church” in Texas, a plumber discovered envelopes full of money hidden in a bathroom wall.
Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston was robbed in 2014 of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
This week, the plumber appeared on a local radio talk show to discuss the discovery and how it may tie to the unsolved crime.
George Lindsey, co-host of the Morning Bullpen at 100.3 the Bull, says, “What he was telling us about the wall was just unbelievable.”
A caller who recently worked on Lakewood Church’s plumbing dropped a bombshell.
We removed the tile from a loose toilet in the wall,” the plumber said. “Went to remove the toilet and moved some insulation away, and about 500 envelopes fell out of the wall.”
There were envelopes full of cash and checks.
According to him, he was in contact with the maintenance supervisor who was there, and I hand over everything to him.
It was too unbelievable for Lindsey to believe.
Lindsey then tells us that in 2014 there was a big story about money being stolen from Lakewood Church.
Houston police are still investigating a seven-year-old case involving the disappearance of $600,000.
While it is unclear how much money the plumber discovered, the case raises a lot of questions.
Lakewood Church’s Statement
However, recently in a statement by Lakewood Church, they tells us that during a recent repair in the church, they were able to discover a hidden amount of cash and checks.
Police have been notified, and they are assisting them in the investigation.
According to a statement from Houston police on Friday, the department believes the November incident connects to a theft report from March 9, 2014. The church reported the theft of undisclosed amounts of money. The investigation is ongoing.
