Courtney Cox has been a regular on all 5 movies of the Scream franchise. And she has revealed in an interview that she is most likely going to feature in Scream 6 as well! Gale Weathers in Scream 6
Since the first movie, Gale has served as one of the main characters. She began her journey as a news reporter for Woodsboro Ghostface Murders. However, she somehow gets too interested in those and tries to solve the mysteries herself. Along the way she pairs up with Sidney and Riley. Due to twisted fate, the trio is somehow the only one who survives the wrath of Ghostface (spoiler alert: one of these does not make it through the Scream 5). While they run for their lives everyone else becomes a victim of Ghostface.
So, if Gale will be in the 6th movie as well. What can we expect from her character? Well, that solely depends on the story of the movie. Of course the character’s arc will then be in accordance. Not only Courtney Cox but Neve Campbell has also been reached out by the creators to feature in Scream 6. However she still hasn’t confirmed whether Sidney Prescott will star in the upcoming movie or not. First Campbell will read the script and if it deems suitable to her then only she’ll confirm her role. Courtney on the other hand has only spoken up about the creators offering her the role.

Is Scream 6 confirmed?
Yes, the 6th movie is confirmed to return, and reportedly it will go under production very soon! Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will serve as its directors and the screenplay has been penned down by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.
Cox spoke about the sequel while she was promoting her other horror project ‘Shining Vale’. So, we know that Gale will yet again return to fight the wicked Ghostface. Although the potential cast members have been given the script we still don’t know who the Ghostface will be this time. Just like every other movie we’ll only get to know about the killer once we watch it ourselves. No other plot details are known either. And these details will only get revealed once the trailer for the movie releases. Or if the creators themselves decide to speak up a bit on the sequel.
Scream 5 was a rollercoaster ride for Gale. She had to kill her one true love, Riley. Deducing from this, don’t expect David Arquette to feature in the upcoming sequel. Obviously this will have a major impact on the character’s life. Most likely the sequel will focus on how she copes up with such a tragic event. Mayhaps she might do something drastic to avenge Riley. Well that will make an interesting plot line! But these are just mere speculations at the moment. Who else can you expect to return in the Scream sequel?
As you must be aware only a handful of characters make it alive till the end of the movie. Those who survived the 5th installment will most likely be there in its follow up as well. So, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega might reprise their roles of Sam Carpenter and Tara Carpenter. Other than Campbell and Cox will also most likely return!
Riley died in the 5th movie and the only recurring characters left are now Gale and Sidney. So, does this mean that one of them will die in the upcoming sequel? Well if we look at the past pattern of the movies it makes sense to think like this.
