Insidious: The Dark Realm is going to release very soon! One of the main actors will also serve as a director. So, the upcoming part is definitely going to be a delight. Release Date – Insidious: The Dark Realm
Some time ago the producer, Jason Blum revealed in an interview that Insidious 5 will premiere somewhere in 2022. We are almost half way through this year but until now there is no confirmed release date for Insidious: The Dark Realm. Moreover, we can’t just predict the release date because the previous movies in the franchise did not follow any particular order.
But it will make sense for the 5th part of the Insidious franchise to release somewhere around October or November, the Halloween time! Insidious: The Last Key premiered recently and even though it did not receive better reviews it still made big on the box office. So, we are sure that the upcoming 5th part will also fare well.
Cast – Insidious: The Dark Realm
Lin Shaye has been there in the franchise since day 1 so obviously she’ll be there in Insidious: The Dark Realm as well. As her character has already passed away the only way through which she can star in the 5th upcoming part is as a ghost. According to her it is one of the most beautiful character arcs that she has ever portrayed. And if she’s provided with the opportunity again, she’ll definitely accept it!
Other than Shaye also expect Patrick Wilson and Ty Simpkins to be there in Insidious 5. They’ll reprise their roles as father and son. So, this means that Josh Lambert and Dalton Lambert will yet again make the center of the story. It will be interesting to find out how these characters go through the traumatic events again.
Patrick Wilson won’t just serve as a main character but the movie will also mark his directorial debut. Rose Byrne and Barbara Hershey’s involvement in the movie is not confirmed yet. It is still left to decide whether they’ll be there or not. Leigh Whannell and Angus Sampson’s roles are also not confirmed for sure. So, it looks like the casting is still not done! Or maybe it has been kept a secret deliberately.

Scott Teems has served as a writer for Insidious: The Dark Realm. The characters that she has introduced in the story will account as the new additions in the cast. Up till now the creators haven’t revealed the new cast members. So, it looks like we’ll have to wait!
Plot – Insidious: The Dark Realm
We have almost nothing regarding the plot details of Insidious 5. But the only part which is known for now is that the story will be set in a different time zone. The story will begin 10 years after the events of the second chapter. Which means at that time Dalton will start with his college. Obviously the upcoming part will also be in connection to the previous movies.
While talking about the movie and in which direction it can go in, Wilson teased that the movie might focus on Dalton as he navigates through his college life. It will be difficult for him to fit in at first and when he’ll realize about his powers of astral projection and time travel it will truly be a revelation. But how will he react to such big changes? Will he make use of these powers in a good or a bad way? Well this is for the movie to tell!
Obviously other aspects will also get explored. The father son relationship between Dalton and Josh might take a hit. Because now that his son has grown up things might get complicated especially given that they’re a special family. By the ending of the previous movie, both Josh and Dalton mutually decided to forget about The Further and all the spirits. But it’s not that easy to disassociate yourself from these supernatural things. Obviously somehow the writers will introduce a plot twist. But who will be the first one to get trapped again? We are not sure if the filming for Insidious: The Dark Realm has begun yet. Aside from this there is no official trailer or even a teaser from the 5th part so it looks like you’ll have to remain patient. As the movie was supposed to premiere in 2022 expect the trailer to drop somewhere around June or August. Until then stay tuned!
