Glow Season 4 has already suffered a lot due to Covid 19 but now as the production for many shows have resumed what can be said about its renewal? Will our favorite ladies in the ring return for a 4th season on Netflix or is their time over? Well it has all been summed up below in the article!
Glow Season 4 Release Date
In August of 2019 Netflix announced that the wrestling dramedy will be getting Glow Season 4. But then in 2020 due to the complications caused by Covid 19 the show’s renewal decision got reversed. So, yes the Emmy winning series won’t be returning for a 4th season after all! As the show has been canceled there is no release date for the 4th season either.
But in the past we have seen how the creators give in to the pressure from the fans and eventually end up renewing the show despite the cancellation. Well it has been 2 years since Netflix made the decision and since then they haven’t spoken up on it. So, it seems like they are quite adamant on this decision. Hence it is useless to expect any sort of Glow content from Netflix.
Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch spoke up about the cancellation in an interview. The creators were quite heartbroken over the fact that the cancellation came mid production of the 4th season. According to them at that time there were a number of tragedies happening but not being able to see 15 women on a screen together, telling their personal stories about struggles is the saddest one. The fans were equally disappointed with the news! Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch also encouraged the fans to vote to save the show. But it has been quite a long time since then which means that the show is never returning for a 4th season!
When the show got canceled they had already packed up on the first episode. In March the schedule was to film a second episode but it could never happen. So, what will happen in the one episode which got filmed? Well Netflix has not announced any plans regarding it. And it seems unlikely for just one episode to premiere on the site. But why was the show canceled?
Well the filming industry has suffered a lot because of the lockdown and pandemic both. But the nature of Glow is such that it requires physical interaction. And amidst the peak of Covid 19 it was not possible to film it. Obviously fighting in a ring could have caused the transmission of the virus and the SOPs at that time were so strict that even despite proper care it couldn’t have been possible to continue with the filming. Moreover the budget for maintaining the show was already high and it got even higher because of Covid 19. The 4th season of Glow was supposed to premiere in 2022 and according to the streaming site this was a huge gap and the audience could have lost interest until then. Subsequently the show got canceled even though it was under production.

The 4th season of Glow was supposed to feature Marc Maron as Sam, Britt Baron as Justine, Chris Lowell as Bash, Kate Nash as Rhonda, and Sydelle Noel as Cherry, Ruth, and Debbie. We are not sure about the involvement of Britney Young because she had announced her departure from the show even before Covid 19 was in the picture. Geena Davis and Kevin Cahoon did not stand any chances of returning to Glow’s 4th installment either.
As the first episode has already been filmed fans were expecting to get to see some sort of teaser or footage from the show. But to their surprise we are not going to get any sort of content! So, this rules out the possibility for the official trailer of the 4th season of Glow. The third season was a blast and the whole franchise was quite a successful one because it went on to secure a number of Emmy nominations. The 4th season would have also followed in the same footsteps and could have made big! But Glow is not the only show which had to suffer because of Covid, in fact Netflix canceled a number of shows like ‘I Am Not Okay With This’ and ‘The Society’.
