We have good news for all Sonic fans – Sonic Origins is all set to be released in June 2022 on Sonic’s birthday! The game started appearing on listings in various markets and after some wait, the developers have finally announced its release date.
Fans were told about Sonic Origins all the way back in May 2021. This got fans extremely excited and curious about the game. To ease down your curiosity, let us tell you that Sonic Origins will be a remastered version of Sonic the Hedgehog titles. However, some new content and features will be added to the new collection.
Sonic Origins will allow the new generation to enjoy Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. It will come with various modes including infinite lives and optional missions during different levels of the game.
According to Sega, the game will be released in June 2022. Also, they plan on releasing special editions of the game that will include pre-order bonuses, exclusive soundtrack, and extra missions to increase the difficulty level of the game.

Sonic Origins Announcement Trailer
An official Trailer for Sonic Origins was released on the official YouTube channel of Sonic the Hedgehog. In the trailer you can see our favorite blue Hedgehog along with various familiar faces. We can see Tails the fox and Knuckles the echidna in the trailer.
Also, the trailer shows that the game has some new Gameplay modes that include classic and anniversary. The game also has some new animated content as shown in the trailer.

Sonic Origins Release Date
The game is all set to be released on 23 June 2022. The summer release date of the game holds great significance as Sonic the Hedgehog was released on the same date back in 1991. This is very nostalgic for all the fans of Sonic!
What’s New?
Sonic Origins includes fans’ all time favorite 2D Sonic titles; Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD. These digitally remastered versions of the titles are updated to suit current generation platforms! The new game collection was described in a Sonic Press Release. It “delivers the legendary, non-stop Sonic action found in the original games while providing a fresh twist with remastered visuals, added features, new content and modes and more.”
Players can choose between three playable characters in the new and updated Sonic Origins collection. The Sonic character options are Sonic himself, Knuckles or Tails. There will be several game modes including a Classic mode and an Anniversary mode. Additionally, there is a whole new variety of missions for Sonic players and several new opportunities to earn some medallions.
The official description for Sonic Origins reads,
“Relive the classic collected adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD in the newly remastered Sonic Origins! From the iconic Green Hill Zone to the treacherous Death Egg Robot, you’ll speed down memory lane to thwart the sinister plans of Doctor Robotnik in polished high definition! Sonic Origins – Where can you Play it?
One question that every player has is – where will Sonic Origins be released? Well, you will be happy to hear that the remastered Sonic game will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox one, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It is specially adapted to become playable on all current generation platforms.
Sonic Origins Pricing
Talking about the price of the game, you should know that it consists of two versions and both are priced differently. Preordering any of the two will give players access to quite a few bonuses. This includes a 100-medallion bonus, a Mega Drive pattern letter box and the unlocked mirror mode.
The standard digital edition of Sonic Origins will be available for £32.99. This will be the basic version of the game. However, the deluxe edition of the game will be available for £36.99. This version will consist of some extra missions, new character animations, and music tracks from the game.
