HBO Max is bringing back the classic show Pretty Little Liars with an unexpected twist! The “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” series is set to premiere very soon. But now the question arises will the original cast come back for Original Sin, or will it entail a new band of characters? You’ll read about it later in the article!
Until now, there are no direct references to the original show; however, the show will be based in the same region! This means that we might get to see familiar places here and there in the upcoming show.
Pretty Little Liars Cast
Our original liars from the series are not coming back. Instead, we’ll be getting new characters and, subsequently, new actors in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. Who are equally as talented as the previous ones. So, let’s unveil our new group.
We have Bailee Madison as Imogen, Chandler Kinney as Tabby, Maia Reffico as Noa, Zaria as Faran, and Malia Pyles as Minnie. And Mallory Bechtel, Lea Salonga, Eric Johnson, Alex Aiono, and Sharon Leal will be joining our five liars.
The new liars have a distinct and exciting personality, but what binds them together? Well, that is for the show to tell. Imogen is believed to be a ‘true survivor,’ Chandler Kinney is a director who loves horror movies, and Minnie has a weird coping mechanism. She happens to find solace in virtual worlds away from her life’s reality, Noa is a track star, and Faran is a composed ballerina. Indeed there must be something unique that brings our five girls together.
According to the series creator, the original five liars were iconic, but he wanted to introduce the audience to a new group with a different back story. And he also focused on ‘A,’ which might be an Easter egg for the series’ die-hard fans. So, as we are getting new characters living in a new town, a new story is waiting to get explored.
Pretty Little Liars Release Date
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will premiere exclusively on HBO Max on 28th July. On the day of the premiere, we’ll get the first two episodes. The rest of the episodes will follow the weekly schedule. The total number of episodes in the show is 10. And the show’s final three episodes will be released on 18th August. That’s a pretty packed schedule!
It is a reboot series for Pretty Little Liars. And according to the official synopsis of Original Sin, the show will take place two decades after the events of the original show. And it will be set in the town of Millwood (miles away from Rosewood, the town where the original show was set in). Some tragic events changed a lot of things in this town. And now an unknown Assailant will take revenge on the new group of liars who are just teenagers. But what crimes have they committed? Well, they will be punished for their parents’ crimes, which were committed almost 20 years ago.
Moreover, don’t expect the theme to be the same as the original show because the creators have given the plot a big twist. It will be much darker. The main themes include friendship! Just a group of texts will haunt the girls who must do anything in their capacity to keep themselves safe.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also happens to be the creator of Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, has written the show. Well, now the plot makes sense! When the news broke out on the web, fans couldn’t stop themselves from asking about the original liars. Will they also have a cameo in the upcoming series? Well, the showrunner mentioned that there are Easter eggs throughout the season, and you’ll also get to see bits of Rosewood in Millwood. So, the involvement of the original characters might be a surprise for the fans.
The official teaser for Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is now on YouTube. Stream it before you miss out! The short teaser was something because it offered so much intense drama. The theme song is no different from the show’s original theme song.
