After two years worth of wait, fans believe that Fire Force Season 3 may finally be around the corner. The show’s storyline follows the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Atsushi Ohkubo. The manga was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine between 2015 to 2022. Directed by Yuki Yase and Tatsuma Minamikawa, the series comes under the banner of David Productions. Further, it is also available for fans to stream on the popular anime streaming site Crunchyroll. Fire Force has an impressive rating of 7.6 out of 10 on IMDb. It received good reviews from both audiences and critics alike. Therefore, renewing it for a third installment seemed like a no-brainer.

Fire Force Season 3 Release Date
The popular anime series bases itself on the manga of the same name. Fire Force Manga only recently completed its volumes in February of 2022. The first season comprised Volume 1 to part of Volume 11 of the manga. Further, the sophomore season consisted of the remainder of volume 11 all the way up to half of volume 20. Hence, for Fire Force Season 3 to release, the manga series first had to come out with enough volumes.
This largely explains the delays between the second and third seasons. With the Fire Force manga completed earlier this year, the creators finally had enough content to complete a third season of the anime.
Fire Force Season 3 would likely release sometime in early or mid-2023. Further, it is also possible that this season may be the final season for the anime series. However, if the series follows in the footsteps of Bleach or Naruto, then it may go into filler territory and release further editions as well.
The background of the series starts with The Great Cataclysm that occurred over 250 years ago. The fictional event destroyed half of humanity. Named, “spontaneous Human Combustion”, it converted humans into the “Internals” (mentally dead creatures). Those that lived took asylum in Tokyo Empire.
Skipping to the year 198, the Empire gathered a team of firefighters knowns as the “Fire Force” to control the number of Internals. The protagonist, Shinra Kusakabe, is part of this Fire Force, having special abilities to light his feet on fire.
Years after losing his mother and brother in a fire, he realizes that his brother is, in fact, alive. His brother was taken by a White Clad Cult who caused the Internal attacks. The cult wants to repeat The Great Cataclysm and further destroy humanity. Shinra and the rest of the Fire Force need to ensure that this does not happen.
Fire Force Season 3 Plot
As the anime follows the story of the manga, season 3 would continue the plot from Volume 20 onwards. As we move into Fire Force Season 3, a battle between the Evangelists and Company 8 seems inevitable. Shinra deep dives into his intense training named “The Press of Death”. The looming threat of the battle motivates him to become stronger to defeat his enemies.
The events of the sophomore season’s finale saw the assassination of Captain Hague. This led to a huge loss for Company 4. Although, through his training, Shinra now has the power to form an Adolla Link. This allows him to see the events of Captain Hague’s death. The third season will bring the union of Company 8 and the Tokyo Empire’s union to destroy the evil plans of the Evangelists.
The official trailer for Fire Force Season 3 is not out yet. However, this is no surprise because, beyond confirmation about the third season’s status, not much information is out either. Therefore, there is still time till we can expect a trailer release. Nevertheless, we expect the trailer to drop about a month prior to the anime series’ release.
