Mob Psycho 100 is another popular anime series that gained quite the hype. After a very successful second season, fans are eager to find out the status of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3. The show follows the storyline of the immensely popular manga of the same name. The talented One wrote and illustrated the manga and was serialized on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday website between April 2012 and December 2017.
In 2016 Bones adapted the manga into an anime series and released its pilot season between July to September 2016. It then received the green light for its sophomore season, which aired from January to April 2018. The first two installments gained much appreciation from audiences and critics alike. The show has a whopping 8.6 out of 10 IMDb rating. Moreover, it also has 4.8 out of 5 Crunchyroll and 8.5 out of 10 MyAnimeList ratings.
Crunchyroll and IGN named the anime the top 25 best anime of the 2010s. Furthermore, at the 1st Crunchyroll Anime Awards, Mob Psycho 100 received eight nominations, winning 2. Looking at the above figures, renewing the show for a new season seemed like a no-brainer. After making its fans wait for over four years, the team finally announced the release date for Mob Psycho 100 season 3. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming installment.
Mob Psycho 100 Plot
The basic premise of the series follows the life of a young middle schooler named Shigeo Kageyama (a.k.a. Mob). While he may seem like any average school kid, he possesses immense psychic powers and is a powerful esper. To keep his abilities concealed from the world around him, Mob keeps himself under an emotional shackle. While doing so, he simultaneously learns how to control his abilities from con-man Reigen Arataka, a spirit medium.
Like most young boys, he keeps landing himself in trouble, which becomes an emotional trigger for him. However, keeping your emotions shackled up is not always the best way to go about things. His powers start to show as his emotions build up, and he threatens to cross all limits. This puts Shigeo’s “normal boy” persona at risk. He also ends up confronting the Claws, another group of espers.
The team is yet to announce the exact cast of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3. Nevertheless, based on the second season’s events, it is possible to predict who may appear in season 3. Further, the story for the third season is already available in the mangas. Therefore, based on the books, we can make a fair guess on the third installment’s cast.
There will likely be no major changes in the main cast for Mob Psycho 100. Most of the cast members would reprise their roles. Although, fans can expect to see some new characters enter the cast in the third season. How many of these cast members continue their roles till the end of season 3 is still unknown. In October 2021, Bones confirmed the status of the latest installment of this teen anime series. After almost four years of waiting, the production house finally announced the release date. Mob Psycho 100 season 3 will release on 5th October 2022 across most platforms. The big news was finally unveiled at the Crunchyroll expo 2022 in Japan. Alongside this, the team also unveiled the trailer for the upcoming installment.
According to reports, the third season will adapt the last four volumes of the manga series. Furthermore, the series will be available for fans to stream on Crunchyroll soon after its release in Japan. Hence, fans need not worry as they do not need to wait long for the show to arrive on a streaming platform.
Mob Psycho Season 3 Plot
The team is yet to reveal the synopsis for Mob Psycho 100 season 3. However, it is unlikely that we will get One anytime soon. As we already know, season 3 follows the storyline of the last four volumes of the manga. Therefore, it is quite easy to predict the upcoming installment.
Based on the four volumes adapted, season 3 may delve into all four story arcs, i.e. the Divine Tree Arc, The ???% Arc, the Telepathy Mini-Arc, and the Epilogue. How the team fits all four arcs into one season will be interesting to see.
The Divine Tree (previously called the giant broccoli) manages to gain many loyal believers, all claiming their rights over the Tree. On the other hand, with everyone preparing for their futures, Mob realizes that it is high time he also puts some thought into his prospects. While Mob is busy with the school’s cultural festival, a new guest arrives in town -a yokai hunter. He asks Reigen for help in getting rid of the treacherous yokai king. The third season, therefore, would show how Reigen and Mob try to help out this yokai hunter. Mob’s struggle to manage his school life alongside his true identity will further develop in the third season.
