The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 – Release Date Announced?

All good things end, and The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 is the final installment of Bruce Miller’s masterpiece. After five successful seasons, fans learned back in September that season 6 will be dropping one last time to provide a proper closure to the series. Based on Canadian author Margaret Atwood’s celebrated 1985 novel having the same name, fans’ unwavering support made the showrunner continue the series for worldwide fans. This American dystopian thriller series got both critical and commercial success. As a result, The Handmaid’s Tale sixth season already has set high standards.

The anticipation increases with every passing day, but when will The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 be released? Do the fans have a date that they can rely on? Well, June is ready to show the final run of her life, and we couldn’t have been more excited about that.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 Release: When Will The Series Air?

Hulu or the showrunner didn’t announce the release date of The Handmaid’s Tale season 6. But we can expect a release window of late 2023 or early 2024. This is because production got messed up after delays in the pandemic. Additionally, the team also had to work on The Testaments sequel. If you track the past release pattern for the series, a new season used to come out each year. But after the pandemic hit the world, production was temporarily paused. The third and fourth seasons had a two-year gap that shook the release schedule balance. However, production is now back on its normal track. So, The Handmaid’s Tale sixth season will come out soon.

What Is The Plot Of Season 6?

Showrunner Bruce Miller is really excited about the upcoming release of season 6. As we know, the story of the series revolves around a fertile woman named June. She is a concubine who stays with a Gileadan officer and his wife. June has no choice but to follow the strict rules laid by the couple. Her dream is to be free and meet her daughter, who has been taken from her, and The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 will continue that story. So, Bruce did warn the fans about an unusual ending which doesn’t happen so often. Since the book doesn’t give a solid finish to June’s character, he wants to focus on providing an honorable conclusion. Her story began when her kid was snatched, and hence, there is more to it.

Sadly, the OG fans will be sad because Alexi Bledel will not join the cast for season 6. As we saw in season 4, the character of Emily has minimal screen time, and in season 5, we didn’t get to see her at all. The storyline hinted that Emily went back to Gilead, so that was it for her chapter. Later, Alexis released a statement that she was no longer a part of the show. Thus, fans will not see Alexis in the show’s sixth installment.

The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 will begin on a very intense note, and as the season ends, the plotlines will be clear. Fans have been restless to watch the final season, but we do have to stay calm as it is still under production.
