Wednesday will be returning for Wednesday Season 2 on Netflix. Jenna Ortega’s MGM Television show became the second most-watched U.S. show behind Stranger Things season 4 in less than a month.
Wednesday offers a new take on Charles Addams’ classic cartoon strip The Addams Family, which became a ’60s sitcom and ’90s film. Wednesday ranks No. 2 with 1.237 billion hours watched in its first 28 days.
The show’s uniqueness lies in the fact that it was produced by Amazon, one of Netflix’s most significant competitors, after the company completed an $8.5 billion deal to acquire MGM. Under Jen Salke’s leadership, MGM TV has been reorganized as Amazon Studios.
Wednesday Season 2’s updates
Now, streaming service Netflix has shared a new video with the following caption: “It’s official: Wednesday Season 2 is coming.” The creators of the show hint in the video that subsequent seasons will contain even more depressing content.
When will Wednesday, Season 2, air?
There is only so much room for speculation! In any event, the first season’s production took approximately one year and one month, beginning in September 2021 and concluding in March 2022 (not including the additional eight months necessary for the show to be broadcast on television). Filming began in September 2021 and ended in March 2022.
If Netflix wanted to follow the exact blueprint, filming Wednesday would take six months, and post-production would take eight months. This would put the release date of Wednesday somewhere between the beginning and the middle of 2024.
Is there any news about who will appear in season 2 on Wednesday?
There has been no official confirmation regarding the Wednesday cast members who will be returning for Wednesday Season 2, nor has there been an announcement regarding which new cast members will be introduced. But since we know you’re interested, here are the potential returnees from the first season:
- Taking on the role of Wednesday Addams is Jenna Ortega.
- Morticia Addams, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones
- Gomez Addams, played by Luis Guzmán
- To play Pugsley Addams, we have Isaac Ordonez.
- Fred Armisen plays Uncle Fester.
- Principal Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie)
- Sheriff Galpin (Jamie McShane)
- Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White)
- Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan)
- Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers)
- Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday)
What’s going to happen on Wednesday’s Season 2? (Spoiler Alert!)
Despite her penchant for pain, Wednesday didn’t seem to enjoy the heartbreak she experienced when she learned that her boyfriend was the monster terrorizing Nevermore. Ms. Thornhill, a teacher favorite, turned out to be a bitter northerner with a grudge against the social outcasts, so now he was also under her control.
Even if Tyler remains Ms. Thornhill’s “pet,” we have a strong suspicion that he escaped, and we are even more confident that he will reappear in Wednesday’s life at some point. But whether as a friend, a lover, or an enemy is still up for debate.
Hunter Doohan, who plays Tyler, has some ideas about what will happen to his character.
The sinister Morning Songs, led by Bianca’s siren mother and capable of luring new members, were mentioned several times throughout the show. Bianca’s mother pressured her into coming along so that they could impact their argument more.
The Morning Songs could quickly become Wednesday’s primary antagonist in season two. Watch this space. Clarifying who the mysterious texter is is something that must be done. Wednesday gets a cryptic, threatening text message shortly after Xavier gives her a brand-new phone as a gift. The letter also includes some creepy photos of herself that look like a stalker took them.
Who is the sender? Yes, that’s a mystery, but it sounds like the peril that would set Wednesday’s heart on fire. Something like this will also help get the ball rolling on a storyline for the upcoming second season.
