Plot Of The Second Season
In the first season of The Sandman, viewers meet Dream, the titular Sandman. Occultists had captured him over a century ago. Along his journey, he encounters various good and evil individuals, such as Johanna Constantine, Lucifer, and John Dee.
By the end of Season 1, Lucifer swears vengeance against Dream after facing defeat and humiliation in a game. In the comics, Lucifer attempts to avenge by leaving Hell and releasing the damned souls back into the waking world, ultimately giving the keys to Dream. This decision triggers a cosmic struggle as different forces from around the universe vie to take control of Hell, which will likely become a central focus in the second season’s plot.
Meanwhile, with Lucifer absent as the keeper of Hell, all the previously confined souls are now stranded on Earth. This leads to a compelling B-plot in the comics. Death, an essential character, plays a significant role in this aspect of the storyline.
The second season might delve into why and how Dream banished his former lover, Nada, to Hell. The Sandman Season 2 will probably feature arcs from the volume “The Season of Mists.” It is regarded as one of the most popular and influential instalments in The Sandman series.

The Sandman Season 2 Cast
The creators carefully assembled a remarkable and diverse cast in The Sandman’s first season. Tom Sturridge brilliantly leads the way as the titular Sandman, Dream, and Morpheus. Vivienne Acheampong portrays Lucienne, the dedicated librarian and caretaker of the Dreaming. Meanwhile, Patton Oswalt plays the character of Matthew the Raven, Dream’s emissary.
Season 1 also showcased exceptional performances from esteemed actors. Gwendoline Christie portrayed Lucifer Morningstar, the formidable ruler of Hell. We even see Kirby Howell-Baptiste, who brought depth and wisdom to the role of Death, Dream’s older sister and embodiment of mortality. Mason Alexander Park captured the essence of Desire. He is Dream’s sibling and personification of longing, adding complexity to the character dynamics.
Fans can look forward to seeing these beloved characters return for the second instalment. The show may also bring back some recurring and guest stars from Season 1, including Kyo Ra/Vanesu Samunyai as Rose Walker, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, the intriguing occult detective, and Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain and Asim Chaudhary as Abel, both denizens of the Dreaming inspired by biblical characters.
As Season 2 unfolds, viewers can anticipate the introduction of new characters, each with their own compelling stories. Indya Moore will portray Delirium, the youngest member of the Endless, navigating a dynamic realm and seeking Dream’s assistance. Additionally, viewers will meet Destruction, an Endless sibling who chose to abandon their realm, and Destiny, the all-knowing eldest member of the Endless.
Another new addition is Wanda, a trans woman employed by a high-end travel firm, serving as a personal guide and liaison for Dream and Delirium in the waking world. While Indya Moore’s casting as Delirium received confirmation, the roles of the other three new characters still await confirmation.
On the other hand, some characters from the first season, like Boyd Holbrook’s Corinthian and David Thewlis’s John Dee, will not be reprising their roles in Season 2. The Sandman defeated The Corinthian, while John Dee returned to the hospital from which he escaped. However, fans may have the opportunity to see The Corinthian return in a future season.

Given the current state of the show’s production, it’s understandable that we might not see a trailer, teaser, or promotional material for The Sandman’s second season anytime soon. However, there’s a tantalizing hint of what’s to come in a clip titled “The Oldest Game.”
In this gripping scene, viewers are treated to a battle of wills and imagination between Lucifer, the ruler of Hell, and Dream, the king of dreams himself. The stakes are high as Dream must confront, challenge, and ultimately conquer Lucifer to retrieve and restore his precious helm. This clash between two formidable beings promises to be an intense and captivating part of the second season’s storyline.
